The French Healthcare Alliance Holds its 6th Plenary Session in Shanghai

On 21st September the French Healthcare Alliance (FHA) held its 6th plenary meeting in Shanghai. Around 60 participants representing a wide range of health-related industries and companies participated in the networking event and roundtables.

The FHA invited 10 industry experts to provide the audience with the latest trends and updates on topics ranging from regulatory reforms for medical devices to China’s silver economy and e-health.

The first panel looked at the great strides China has made in reforming its healthcare system in the last 18 months. The most recent regulatory reforms have expanded access to medical devices. However, many challenges remain for foreign companies operating in China. Eric Bouteiller along Volker Mueller from the European Chamber of Commerce in China, LI Zhaohuo from J-Medtec and Benoit Derinck from Thuasne shared their latest insights on these challenges.

The second panel focused on China’s aging population and how France’s expertise in this field can support the country’s changing demographics. Olivier Dessajan from China Merchants - Colisée as well as Edouard de la Marandais from Aden Services, Thierry Weishaupt, Groupe VYV, and Mrs SHAO Xiaofeng, DomusVI, discussed the benefits of adopting a multi-sectoral approach.

The last panel looked at China’s ever changing digital landscape and how the French health industry can embrace and make the most out of this fast moving sector. Benoit Raoult (JUMO) along Marie Chavanon (Sanofi), Pedro Lucas (Euris) and Jiang Xi (Fenglin BioMedical Center) discussed the challenges and opportunities start-ups, SMEs and MNCs are faced with and strategies to overcome them.

The FHA’s co-presidents, Benoit Colinot (Business France) and Pierre Faury (Sanofi) gave a brief overview of the FHA’s purpose and upcoming activities. They called on the audience to actively take part to the FHA’s activities and join as steering committee members because the value of the FHA depends on its members’ involvement!

The FHA would like to thank its generous sponsors: BioFM, Aden Services and AXA Next for their support in organizing this event!
